Top-voted comments mentioning Enfamil

"Both Little unicorn and Bobbie have shipping fees. Little Unicorns was $8ish but worth it for me and I think Bobbie was about that too for shipping but I didn’t order from them. If you want more free samples of formula both Enfamil and Similac have rewards and send sample cans and coupons" — r/BabyBumps user, March 2026 · 11 upvotes
"Similac, my LO stopped spitting up so much when I switched to it. We also used enfamil at first because the hospital did." — r/NewParents user, March 2026 · 6 upvotes
"Totally normal for newborn feeds to be inconsistent, their guts are still figuring things out especially after antibiotics. If he keeps arching/spitting up a lot it’s reasonable to try Gentlease for a week or two and see if it settles him—fed and comfortable beats stressing over formula ingredients." — r/NewParents user, March 2026 · 5 upvotes

How to read this

Complaint counts are discussion frequency, not failure rates. Enfamil and Similac dominate US hospitals, so they accumulate more total mentions — and more complaint mentions — than smaller brands simply because more parents use them. The more useful signal is the shape of each brand's complaint profile: Enfamil's top category in our sample was reflux/spit-up, while availability complaints clustered around the import brands (Kendamil, HiPP) that sell out at US retailers.

The second useful signal is what parents switched to. In the quote data, the most common happy ending is a switch story: hospital-default brand caused gas or spit-up, parents moved to a gentler line (Gentlease, Pro-Sensitive, Alimentum for confirmed CMPA), symptoms improved. If that pattern matches your situation, bring it up with your pediatrician — every US formula meets the same FDA nutrient floor, but tolerance varies baby to baby.

Frequently asked

Which baby formula gets the fewest complaints?

Among brands with 30+ mentions in our sample, the complaint-to-mention ratio was lowest for the brands parents chose deliberately (Kendamil, Bobbie) rather than received as a hospital default. That is partly selection bias: parents who researched their way to a brand complain less than parents handed a brand at discharge.

What is the most common complaint overall?

Gas and fussiness, in every brand's profile, followed by reflux/spit-up. That tracks with pediatric guidance — digestive adjustment is the most common response to any formula change, usually settling within 1-2 weeks.

Is it safe to switch brands?

For most healthy babies, yes — all US formulas meet the same FDA nutrient requirements. Talk to your pediatrician first if you suspect allergy or intolerance, and always before switching to or from hypoallergenic lines (Nutramigen, Alimentum).

Methodology

Source: 350,988 comments posted March 1-31, 2026 in r/NewParents, r/BabyBumps, r/beyondthebump, r/breastfeeding, r/Mommit, and r/daddit, from the public Reddit archive (Watchful1/PushshiftDumps, Academic Torrents). Brand matching uses word-boundary patterns including sub-brand aliases (Gentlease and NeuroPro count toward Enfamil; Alimentum also counts toward Similac). Complaint categories are keyword-matched within brand-mentioning comments; one comment can match multiple categories. Brands with fewer than 10 mentions are excluded. Quotes are verbatim, attributed by subreddit and month only — no usernames. Removal requests: hello@babbycare.com, honored within 30 days. Full source rules at our methodology page.
